Thank You!

Just wanted to pass along a great big THANK YOU to all who helped decorate and work on the float. Thanks to Mark & Kim Johnson for the loan of the truck and their help with the float. To George and Lisa Sallade for the loan of the trailer and their help with the float. Also to David and Lynda Cable for the loan of the toys for our toy box and the many hours of hard work they put in on the float. Also our thanks to Gene and Donna Robinson, Lisa Wells-Dixon, Lisa Henry, Tom Boscher and Karen, Timothy and Stephen Arnold for their help with the float. HHAFFA received the award for the Most Colorful in the non-commercial category.

While we are proud of the awards what makes us most proud are the volunteers who came out on Friday and Saturday to help decorate and those who braved the cold and snow to walk and ride in the parade.

A special thank you to Bob Evans of Limestone Capitol Automotive for the loan of his facilities and to Dustin Gabhart of PDI Mechanical for the loan of the generator.

It was good to see this number come out and pitch in to make sure we were well represented in the parade.

Joe Henley looked really sharp in his dress uniform and was a very good choice for Grand Marshall.

Again thanks to all for making this a successful parade!
Merry Christmas to all,
Larry Arnold

Christmas Parade

Just a reminder to all that are willing to work on the Christmas Parade that next Friday and Saturday will be the decorating party. We will be using the Sallade trailer again this year. In keeping with the toyland Christmas theme we are going to decorate the trailer like a toy box with toy soldiers inside. We need people to dress up like toy soldiers and we need help decorating. We will decorate on Friday evening and Saturday morning at Limestone Automotive at 14th & H street next to the UAW Hall and Company Concourse. We will need a generator to provide power for the lights and sound. We will also need people to walk in the parade with the flags. We have purchased a second set of flags to put in the back of the truck and we will need to get them put together before the parade. We have a lot of work to do before the parade and the more help we have the better it will go. It would be great for HHAFFA to have a large turnout in honor of Grand Marshalls Betsy and Joe. If you have decorating ideas please pass them along to us and then show up to make your ideas a reality.

Thanks,Larry

I have two people interested in starting back up with our weekly walks in the afternoon. Is anyone interested? This would be a great time to get together and walk, talk, and share stories about our soldiers. The exercise and companionship is good for our body's, minds and souls, not to mention a great stress reliever. Anyone interested, please let me know.

Don't forget we will be at K-Mart, in the vestibule this Friday, 10/22/10, from noon to 7:00PM, collecting donations and donated items for our Christmas for the troops. We will be selling bracelets, Halloween cards, and T-shirts. If anyone would like any T-shirts while we still have them, come on out to K-mart tomorrow. This is for a great cause. Please come on out to K-Mart tomorrow and see us!

The Relay for life, web page is up and running for people to sign up a team for next year. If anyone is interested in organizing a team for HHAFFA, please let me know and I will give you any information needed. I will not be a team captain this year. I have been asked to be on the committee. If HHAFFA is to have a team this year, we will need someone to volunteer for team captain.

Please make sure we have your service member's current address. Have a great weekend! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS & GOD BLESS THEIR FAMILIES!

News

We had a successful day at Walmart for donations. We collected several items for the Christmas packages along with selling t-shirts along and collecting money. Thank you to all who helped that day. Since it was a success we are holding one at K-Mart on Friday October 22 in the vestibule. I will be there at 12:30pm to set-up and we need to leave by 7:30. I need some volunteers to man the table. We will have t-shirts for sale, patriotic bracelet bands for sale, and will pass out the list of desired items from the troops. Receive donations of items or money for our Christmas Packing Party. So if you can spare some of your time please help us out with this very important day to get donations for our troops.

Also please save all your small plastic containers for our pre-packing party. These could be yogurt containers with lids, sour cream containers, or other small containers. We need these to pack packages of sauces for the troops like taco sauce, bbq sauce, and several other sauces they have requested.

Our monthly dinner was very well attended at Bob Evan's. It was a great time with good food and fellowship. I'm sure Tom will have another great place for next month's dinner so plan to attend it. It is always held the second Friday of the month. We will inform everyone of where next month's will be.

Support our Troops in all they do.

News

We need volunteers to man the doors at Wal-Mart Friday afternoon. We will be there to get donations for our Christmas packages for the Troops. I will be there around 3pm but I need volunteers to be there at 3:30pm until 6:00pm. If we get several volunteers then we can have breaks and get to the customers as they come in the doors and hand them a list of items needed for the troops. After we are done at 6pm then we can all head over to Bob Evan's restaurant for our monthly dinner.

Also please bring a bag of candy for our Halloween Safe trick or treating. We will be doing this Thursday Night Oct. 28, volunteers are aslo needed for that night. You may come dressed in costume as we hand out candy to the children and Christmas wish list to the adults for our troops. I will be at the 4-H fairground main building at 4:30pm to set up. This is their night of safe trick or treating. Thanks for all you do to support our troops.
